Specific Bequest of Personal Property

Dr. Richard E. Davis finds peace in knowing that his valued 1928 Gibson RB4 banjo will be put to good use in the ETSU Old Time and Bluegrass program.

As an emeritus professor at the University of San Francisco, Dr. Davis knew he wanted to leave the instrument, and an endowment related to it, in a university setting. While he did not attend ETSU nor teach here, through research Dr. Davis discovered the bluegrass program to be a vibrant part of the university. "ETSU seemed then, and as I continue to learn more about the university still does seem, the perfect place."

"In my 37 years teaching I taught 50 different courses in seven different departments, having had a major role in creating three of them. For a person such as myself, a school provides a wealth of opportunities for students to learn and grow, which makes my heart warm."

Dr. Davis finds additional personal benefit in knowing that his grandparents, whom his endowment is named for, will continue to be honored.
